The communication system is a necessity for all of warships, fishing boats, and merchant ships. After ferry boats leave the dock and enter the offshore sailing area, mobile communication signals become weaker and cannot meet passengers' requirements for Internet access, and value-added services provided by the shipping companies. What's worse, the management center of the shipping company cannot perform remote real-time monitoring and management for the ferry boats through the installed cameras and can perform only video recording and copy them for review ashore. With development of technologies and diversification of communication methods, satellite communication has become a main force for marine communication owing to its high quality, distance-irrelevant tariff, and free of restrictions from fixed base stations on the ground.
The solution has a star architecture and comprises three parts: shipboard satellite communication devices, gateway and ferry management center, and Synertone 1. The shipboard satellite communication devices include the shipboard satellite communication system, Wi-Fi private cloud platform and application system device, remote ship monitoring device, ship-shore call system, and ship trace monitoring system. The management center includes the monitoring and management call center and office servers. Synertone 1 and gateways connect the shipboard satellite communication devices to the management center. Shipboard mobile NEs are installed on the ship to provide the satellite signal access, Wi-Fi access, video surveillance, value-added service push, attendance management, and calling functions.
